Blue

Kayla had a Cardiology appointment last Wednesday to check her saturation (blood oxygen level).  When we first got there they of course took her measurements which meant we had to strip her down to get an accurate weight reading.  She got a little cold which I guess can lower your sats a bit.  For the majority of the time we were there poor Kayla was between 65 and 72.  A healthy person bounces around 95 and 100, 70 is too low and you have to stay at the hospital with oxygen.  Towards the end of the appointment Kayla finally warmed up enough that her sats stayed mostly around 75.  The cardiologist said that if her numbers would not have come up she was going to send us to Seattle Children's where Kayla would stay.  Just so you know, when Kayla was discharged at the beginning of August she was in the upper 80's to low 90's.  Her sats are dropping quickly.  We are in the process of getting a date for her heart surgery, unfortunately the process is a bit slower than I would like.  Kayla's cardiologist spoke with the surgeons yesterday and they said they would like an echo so they can decide what needs to be done and when.  Our next appointment is in one week on October 5th and that's when they will do the echo and then they will discuss the following Monday what will be done.  In my mind that is way too far away.  Kayla is getting worse and worse everyday and she needs that surgery.  I don't know how much longer I can handle worrying and freaking out every time she turns bluer than usual.

A little blue, don't you think?
